Never been close enough to a bat's nose to confirm Mia's comment. But I do believe, if noses are really as informative as we think, Skuzz is very healthy.
Good closeup. Does he mind posing for all of these photos?

@Evie: Thanks. The more photos I take of him the more relaxed he gets about it. Some of my most recent Skuzzball pictures show him very clearly because he stays still for me. And he has been allowing me to get very close (I don't use zoom). Skuzzball is a terrific hamster.

I've seen a hamster in real life, and this series is a real education for me! How did you manage to get this close? It's a fantastic macro, clarity and color and focus are perfect- well done!

@Sidonie: Thanks! I'd never appreciated that Skuzzball could be educational. The reason I can snap pictures so close to Skuzzball is that he trusts me. I spend some time with each hamster each day. Not necessarily handling them or playing, but just letting them be around people. Skuzzball knows me so well that nothing I do startles him.
Right now Skuzzball sitting on my lap, sleeping. And I am trying not to move my legs too much. He is a very sweet hamster.
